United Way Day of Caring - October 12, 2007

ACTION-Housing, Inc. joined once again in the United Way, National Day of Caring. This year, ACTION-Housing staff, in conjunction with their Youthbuild students, participated in a project at Hearth Benedictine Place. Hearth Benedictine Place is transitional housing for homeless women with 1-4 children. The women must be in the process of becoming self-sufficient. They must be in school or have employment. ACTION-Housing staff and the Youthbuild participants painted several offices and one of the residents’ apartments.

Benedictine Place was selected as this years United Way Day of Caring location because it was special to our former Executive Director, Jon Zimmer. He collaborated with Benedictine Place on many occasions. Benedictine Place is also among the properties that ACTION-Housing tours each year as a part of their new board members orientation.
